Bravo Fisher: Postmodern one-man band

ver el texto en castellano

'El valle invisible'  is his second album. This Postmodern one-man band,  nicknamed Bravo Fisher! dares with synths, guitars, bass, ukulele and his music goes between electró, indie and the fresher pop. During one of his live shows, in our wet dreams, the hysterical fans throw special lace Deluxe knickers for him... He ir ours...

Bravo Fisher!

You prove that it is not a legend the question about the one-man band. Why are you so determined about doing everything yourself?
I don’t do everything, everything  by myself. The project is mine, that´s true. I compose the music, the lyrics, and I am over everything that involves Bravo Fisher!. But now, for example, in “El Valle invisible” Tour, I am going with live musicians. I think it is basic to surround oneself with people so you don’t loose your focal point.

When did you decide to join this jam called music?
Maaaaaaaaaaany years ago. I use to explain that I changed the football ball for the guitar.  I spent my whole lige playing and I got tired. Adolescence, I guess... i had a couple of bands in Valladolid, my native city. 4 years ago I moved to Madrid and I forgot the idea of the bands in order to start composin by myself.

You have recently publised “El valle invisible”, LP formed by 10 songs and recorded in Rec Division studios, in Madrid. How is it going the reception of the new album?
Great! At least, I am very happy about the results, and they are a lot of good things to come. I feel like everytime  more people comes to join this “Valle Invisible”,, the story I tell; in the live shows I see people singing the songs, they feel them, I don’t know, this is something that I didn’t deserve because ir didn’t happen with the first album. Also live the songs sound powerful and the reflect very well what we get on the Studio.

Once you published your first album “ We were overnighters”, you sign up with Subterfuge Records in 2012. What has it meant for you?
Everything, I guess. I stopped to be an “amateur” to get professionalized as a musician. In Subterfuge I feel like I am where I have to be. I Love the human spirit that stays there, that I can have continous contact with them, see ideas in group... it was the first time that I signed with a recordin, and I expected a coldest manner.

How is the composition process that you use to follow? Have you got any order or preference? First the lyrics, them the music... How can you fix it with all this instruments at the same time?
I am a little chaotic while composing, in fact. Some songs come up from a rythm, another ones from a lyric, a Melody, a Voice... Altough in this record in general, as I had in mind to tell a story, the first thing I did was to make a brief script about what I wanted to happen, as in a film or a book, despite distances, obviously. So I began by the root, the came the lyrics, the music, the arrangements...

We are sure that it must be a song from ‘El valle invisible’ that you repeat in your Ipod more than the rest. Which one?
As an exclusive confession I’d say that I don’t have my album on my Ipod. In fact, I don’t have an Ipod... in fact, I am not used to listen to music in my mobile phone. My mother told me that it is dangerous listening music while you walk over the city... hehehe so, if I listen to music, it’s at home, quietly and with a good sound System. I also like to take care about my ears. I use headphones a lot for composin so I don’t have many interest about listening other things...

At whom would you throw a of Hello Kitty knickers or underpants and why?
I am not very fan of no one, really. I have never been.  But to say something, now I really like Grimes, so I ges sit would be her. But better if they are from Calvin Klein, Hello Kitty... I don’t like it at all, sorry :)

Which has been your show that makes you smile when thinking about it ?
Uff lots of them! I guess that one of the shows that survives on my memory is the first time I played in Arenal Sound (2011). There was a lot of people and it was like my 4º or 5º show, so I was nervous. It was also my first festival, and I saw for the first time that people in festivals dance a lot  hehehe it was really cool.

Which are Bravo Fisher! plans for 2014?
Firstly, before the year ends, it will come up a collaboration with EME DJ, a song that we have 50-50 in which I sing (an add the lyrics). Now we are with the vídeo, looking for offers. At the beginning of 2015 it will come up algo the vídeo of the 3rd single from the album (the two previous where “39” and “Miradas”). I will still showing the LP in Spain, maybe I go abroad, but I can say anything at the moment (shhhhh), then the summer, festivals... I have on my mind new ideas for a new album/EP but I want to do things slowly so I don’t think I publish nothing new  for a while. Who knows...

Now, at last, we include your last video  “39”. A vídeo with or without aspirations? Could you resume us the essence you want to communicate with it?
Well, it is an easy vídeo, I will say that witouht aspirations. You can see me walking/dancing  through Madrid streets mixed with old images. It is realized by Borja Crespo and I am quite happy with the final result, but as an anecdote I may say that I bored him because I saw myself like a very bad dancer. I didn’t knew how to dance there, now I do it quite better hehehehe.

Bravo Fisher: Hombre orquesta posmoderno

view the text in English

Mi Pequeña Radio: for the love of the music

ver el texto en castellano

Mi pequeña radio is the band formed by David Tabueña, that decided to start a new Project once his old band, Less, got dissolved.
At his back he has two albums, but most of all, a lot of talent and the persistence enough of not giving up although he often feels like skiing against current.
This super handsome guy (that’s not an important detail but we wanted to leave proof, OARGH!!!), he recognizes that he maybe run a lot of risk when decided to leave everything because of music. For sure that now he does not regret, seeing his success.
This is the hysterical interview to Mi Pequeña Radio!

David, you were a radio speaker before starting with music. That’s why the name of this project, “my little radio”? Is this a sign to this phase?
Yes, completely. The radio gave me so much. I grew up a lot musically and I will always be grateful, that’s why the small tribute in the band’s name. But I must say that I’m referring to the years ago radio. Not the actual one. The musical radio from nowadays stinks. Really stinks, apart from some dial son the internet or rarefied programs like como La Isla de Encanta, Corrientes Circulares or Toxicosmos…

When you certain did know that you wanted to leave the radio to launch yourself to the ventured world of indie music?
I don’t remember exactly… it was progressive. I was living in Huesca and I combined the radio with the band, and with the guys I was playing before, we were thinking about living in Madrid. A standard day, I went to the Director’s Office and I said:
- I’m leaving.
- Where?
- To Madrid boss, with the band.
- You are completely mad.
And I’m still here.

Your debut album, “Esquiando hacia arriba” (2009), has been considered as autobiographical. Is it true? Is maybe the name of the album referring to how much did it cost to you to begin your own career?
All the albums have an autobiographical part. I don’t think there is a single album in the world without a small autobiographical corner. It is not a 100% autobiographical record but it has details. The title is obvious. It costs a lot to ski against current, almost more than composing, recording and publishing and album.

Your second álbum “Dónde está lo que un día fuimos”, is published in 2011. What did you want to show to the world this time?
The dirty part of the band. On the first one we were showing the clean part. In this one, the dirty one. Risk. Live recording. Electricity and more agressive lyrics.

Iker Casillas, goalkeeper from Real Madrid, published at his Facebook a link to your song “Valor Galáctico” (later we’ll see the video). Explain us what supposed for you that this celebrity, with all this fans, show your video.
Well it was a big surprise. I was lying in my bed watching a film and like at 00 pm. my cell began to ring on a crazy way. Iker Casillas linked our video on Facebook saying he loved it. I couldn’t believe it. It meant to us satisfaction and a surprise. Nothing else. No one called us from TV or something like that… we had the support from Jesús Gallego, Cadena Ser in its program “Hoy por Hoy” with Gemma Nierga and a little bit more…

Imagine that, for one day, you are again a radio speaker from a musical program. Which 3 songs would you play without a doubt?
That’s a dirty trick…..  “Exit Music” from Radiohead, “Is There a Ghost” from Band Of Horses and “Sometimes” from My Bloody Valentine.

¿At whom would you throw a Hello Kitty knickers or underpants and why?
Holy Shit, Hello Kitty underpants really exist???.... I didn’t know it… well I don’t know….

Sometimes you have said that your live shows are stronger than the albums. What kind of surprises can feel someone that assists for the first time to a live show of Mi Pequeña Radio?
A lot of electricity and strength. It is true that like much more live than on a record. It has always been like this.

There are rumors about a possible Mi Pequeña Radio new album for 2014. Is that true? Any advance about the influences?
It’s very difficult to auto define ourselves, auto tag us and much more, to mention influences. We really do not find likeness to anyone. It is true; we’ll begin to record at the end of this year. It will be an EP with 4 or 5 songs, we are still defining it. On the other side, we don’t know why but we have never arrived to get that anyone could reflect on an album what we are on a live show. I don’t think it’s a matter of money but of the concept. We haven’t done it yet. Hope to do it this time.

We finish the interview with the video “Valor Galáctico”. What does the song mean for you?
The single of the album and we think that a good song, about lyrics, harmonies and production. I wrote it when a girl broke up with a friend of mine, and this girl was constantly calling him. He even was still in love with her, had the patience of not answering the phone. And that’s really difficult. I think…

Mi Pequeña Radio: por amor al arte

view the text in English

- Me voy.
- ¿A dónde?

“Exit Music” de Radiohead, “Is There a Ghost” de Band Of Horses y “Sometimes” de My Bloody Valentine.

Pues no sé….

Creo...

Niños Mutantes: the indie national transformation

ver el texto en castellano

At what age do children stop being children?
With 8 LP’s reached we could say that they are at their sweetest stage of their childhood. Nani Castañeda (drums). Miguel Haro (bass), Andres López (guitars and chorus) and Juan Alberto Martínez (guitars and lyrics). Four mutant children from Granada that in their bedrooms hang posters of Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Stones Roses, Wilco, ...
Signed up with Ernie records, “Náufrago” is their last album that has been recognized as best album of the year.

Pop/rock, Post-Rock, indie.... How would you describe yourself?
We stopped to mind about the tags a lot of time ago. We are a band that tries to make songs from the heart. Some of them more pop, some more rock, some people consider them indie… what we care about is the content, the message, the essence, what we say, how do we want to say it and how to transmit it.

“Náufragos” has been recognized with the Pop-Eye award as record of the year. Also, in the Independent Music Awards you won the awards for best album and best video (for “Náufragos”, realized by Alexis Morante). What does it mean for you this recognition? What happened next?
Sweet things never made anyone bitter, they made all of us glad. It means that there is people that appreciates your work and hat is always gratifying. Altough our long career, we are quite novice with the awards. And that’s how we consider it, as a newness. And it comes of funny.
Next, what happened is that more people came to know us as a band, and realized that we make good songs. I guess that’s what awards are for.

Do you use to follow a same meter when composing your songs?
With “Naufragos” began a new composing system. Since then, Juan Alberto used to bring to the rehearse sketches of the songs more or less completed. But with Naufragos we began to work from very undressed idees (most of them were also carried by Juanito), but contributing a lot each one of us; sometimes we even start completely. Someone beguins to play something and then we continue to see where does it go. We liked the result and we felt comfortable working like this, altough its much more complicated. Trying to arrive to a point of agreement with the four mutants is not an easy job. We can spend a whole afternoon discussing impassioned about which is the rythm of the song (or about Dostoievski…).

Almost closing the year, next November the 2nd you’ll be at the first edition of Elastic Festival sharing headline with a huge selection of national and international indie. How appears to be next 2014?
Well, we hope to have a new album, so with all the illusion of the world. At the moment is everything unwritten, but we feel that a new stage begins in the band. We think like if with “Náufragos” we are closing a trilogy that began with “Todo Es El momento” and now is time to make something different.

How is being conceived the 9th mutation? Something you can advance us about what we’ll find in your next album?
We are completely filled in the composition of the new songs. At the moment we only have a lot of ideas and a lot of energy in order to work with them. If I can say, there is no pregnancy yet but we are making sex constantly, with passion and excess so we can make it. We are at this stage at the moment…
There is a collective feeling that this must be an album in capital letter. And you can notice this when composing. Some of these songs have us really stuck on. We walk on the street thinking about chorus, rhythms, lyrics…

Fill in the gaps: when we are not on tour, we love to…
If we are not on tour it means that we are at the rehearsal, composing. And we are thinking about the next tour.
We also love to disconnect, get lost in Las Alpujarras, Cabo de Gata, Orce, Galicia, be with our families… we have very worldly hobbies.

At whom would you throw a Hello Kitty knickers and why?
Really? There are worst ways to show admiration… we are not used to throw anything, but I guess that a pair of Hello Kitty pants would fit very well to our beloved Zahara. Aside than admiration, sure they fit very well ;)

The abandon feeling that some artists feel, feeling of a lack of support with encouraging art politics (for example in music) in the actual scene is something that really matter to Hysterical Fans. Are you identified with this situation?
This is a quite prickly topic. We have a government and, in general, a politic class very uneducated so we cannot expect nothing from them about this. Their concept of culture goes ligated to fast money culture, in fact, they are the kings in this kind of culture. It’s really sad, fucked up, shocking… (I must stop). In any case, we do not have to wait for someone to help. Music and culture in general is over all this stuff and it will exist even a band of incompetents still push to fuck it up. In fact, is in these situations when the growth is bigger. The story is that, if they do not support music, please at least don’t try to sink it, which would be fair. But the truth is that some politics are interested in having uncultured vassal. That’s not new, but its dangerous.

What happens in your dressing room before a show? Any ritual or hangup before the show?
Some nerves on the edge. We use to have a guitar near so we sing some songs that are our “pre-show classics” (Jolene from Dolly Parton, En el Río from Mike River or Todo es de Color from Triana). We always use to hold each other before going out to stage… does it count as a ritual?

We finish the interview with the prize-winning video “Naufragos”. Which message is the video trying to communicate?
That it is not very advisable to spend quite time under water with clothes, even in summer. We were on the edge of hypothermia.
We love the video and we also love to work with Alexis Morante, a big man in audiovisual narration, in short filming, video or we hope that in feature film soon.
The message of the video, as the message of the song, is that the shipwrecked is the hero of every downfall, like the one we are living at the moment. It is necessary to swim cross-current, to hold strongly music and thinking positive to succeed.

Niños Mutantes: La transformación del indie nacional

view the text in English

Pop/rock, Post-Rock, indie....

Polock: Indie Pop with class

ver el texto en castellano

We know that Spain can breathe over the curly haired from bulerías and other pseudo musical monstrosities (please remember the definition of subnopop made by Ojete Calor in their interview that we published in September). Today, the hysterical interview is a good prove of that with the band POLOCK, formed in 2006 in Valencia. After some rough cuts, in 2009 they sign up with Mushroom Pillow and in one year, in 2010, they publish their debut album (and the only one from now).
There’s when begins the hard work of Polock in festivals, towns, dumps more or less conditioned, load the van, unload the van… well, this is artists hard life! But as they know what they want and how they want to do it, they don´t complain. It’s difficult to complain having lots of people singing your songs, isn’t it?
We are very pleased that you can read the hysterical interview to… POLOCK!
Answers: Papu Sebastián. Singer.

Musically we’ve heard that you are often compared with other bands, from Nada Surf to the Strokes.  To us particularly, you are very near to our super loved Phoenix… Are you annoyed because of all this comparations?
We are near to publish our second album. We think that’s a good chance to listen to it carefully and decide, simply, if you like it or not, our first album was published more than three years ago. Comparisons are inevitable in the times we are living but it’s always a flattery to be compared with such qualified bands.

You have only one LP published but you do not smell like a new band. The reviews of the album were good at the moment, and we predict you a very large future as band, and we know what we are talking about! Now, let’s look at the crystal ball and tell us: where do you see yourself as a band in 10 years?
I don’t know what to say… Listening to some music somewhere?

How do you compose? Does someone in the band have the weight in composing? Or it is completely team work…
Normally I compose at home in a little home studio where I record the main lines in music and lyrics, so in that way all the weight comes to me. Then, I bring it to the local to make a brainstorming with the band to fix and finish the songs completely bringing each one of us its style.  We have been recording and re-recording some songs for one year until we have found the perfect rhythm for the drums. All of us try to go one step behind in the compositions and I think that’s exactly what gives personality to the band.

Singing in English: ¿Pose or what really grow up from you?
Music is music. We decided to make it this way.

Is it possible to have friends in music? Which ones? An unforgettable party you can explain?
During all this time and along all the trips we made, we had the opportunity to meet incredible people from different places; we always try to meet the bands we play with.
The last memorable party was at Low Cost Festival, we finished the entire band at 03 am. at the pool of the festival, I don’t remember much more, people was throwing enormous puffs to the water and jumped over them. We also had a great time in the ERA festival, in Llagostera. The organization uses to invite the bands to spend the weekend in a really incredible house.

You have gone across a good part of Spanish festivals, playing with national and international acclaimed indie bands. All through this road making live shows, have you learned something? Is there any band that for you was as a teacher in live shows? Or something you know that the audience likes specially?
We learn consciously or unconsciously from any live show that we attend things that maybe in the future you can put into practice. For me, for example, was awesome the sound and elegance of Wilco in the Grand Rex Theatre from Paris.

You are finishing the recording of your second album. As you can imagine, the expectation and appetite for listening it are enormous. Ono the other hand, a second album can be quite oppressing just because Getting down from the trees spread a lot of expectations in Polock. How do you face the coming out of this second album?
What really oppress us really is to do the things we have on mind for this record on time, and that It comes out well. The pressure while making an album is ours, we are very over careful and meticulous with every detail, I think it is reflected on the album. This is not going to be our first album, and so, the control we have amongst things is not the same that we have while recording the first. We have learned a lot during these years. We are eager about the coming out and that people could enjoy it.

Your first album was published in places like USA, Canada, Germany or even Japan. For your second album, are you more oriented to Spain or to be consolidated abroad?
This album will be published in all this countries, together with Spain. The idea is making it just like our previous album, playing everywhere it is published.

At whom would you throw a Hello Kitty underpants and why?
We are not very fanatic, but if I have to choose, I may say Gil Scott-Heron.

We finish the interview with our favorite song from “Gettin down from the trees”: Sometimes. Tell us, is it dedicated to any Papu’s or another member of the band one-night stand or it is all pure fiction?
It is something like Star-Trek.

No sabría decirte…

Helen Love: We Are All The Lo-Fi Kids

ver el texto en castellano

Helen Love have a long history since the early nineties, what we most love of these Welsh girls is that they have preserved the very essence of lo-fi for over two decades.
They are authentic party lovers, with a bit of that British punk attitude. We could resume their music in just one sentence: Sticky as a chewing- gum stuck on the sole of a Converse.
If you listen their latest album we are sure you will come to mind flashbacks of the time at school.... yes ... of when you missed those classes with your friends while talking about that guy/girl you were in love.... come on don’t tell us that you never missed a class, right? Lol... sure!

It is always good self-describing  ... what is Helen Love?
Helen love is me Helen Love, Sheena Love guitar and Ricardo Autobahn electronic wizard.

Do you think in the guys who are cool first and then you compose the songs? What is the songwriting process that you girls usually do?
Well obviously Joey Ramone was and still is the coolest so writing songs about him was easy. Now I think we write more stories, happy but with a bittersweet twist.

Was best music in the 80's?
Well late 70s to mid-80s was fantastic, everything changed, punk, new wave, new romantic, exciting music for exciting times.

Have you ever had the feeling that your music does not belong to this century?
Well most critics say our music should not belong at all, but we don't listen to those idiots, I have no idea where our music belongs.

Your last two albums have been released by Elefant Records, one of the Spanish independent record labels that has had the greatest presence in the national and internacional music panorama. You girls are Welsh.... How and when did this Hispanic-British love begin?
We got told that elefant really liked us so it was natural to be on their label as we always loved the records they released, plus they are wonderful people and true music fans.

With the release of your last album "Helen Love- Day- Glo Dreams" also available here in Spain, you did a contest somewhat original: The prize for this contest consisted of a song recorded by you dedicated to the winner. How do you come up with that idea?
Yes that is a great idea, we should do that! (FANS HISTÉRICAS QUOTE: We think she doesn’t know anything at all about this contest, but the Info is on-line… Helen Love contest)

At whom would you throw a Hello Kitty knickers and why?
Well today it would be The Lovely Eggs.

On November 4th you have a gig in London, maybe we can go, but if we cannot go...Have you plans about touring? Important question: Will you gig in Spain?
Yes we want to come to Spain, yes we will come, next year.

Have you ever dreamed of running away with a guy at school age like happens in the video of your single “Atomic”? Or maybe you did.
Ha, oh no, but I am sure everyone has gone out with someone who their parents did not approve off; it’s part of growing up.

Helen Love: We Are All The Lo-Fi Kids

Lol… ¡Ya, claro!

Siempre es bueno autodescribirse… ¿Qué es Helen Love?
Helen love somos yo Helen Love, Sheena Love guitarra y Ricardo Autobahn mago electrónico.

Bueno, hoy por hoy sería a The Lovely Eggs.

Bigott: The Indie's Dude

ver el texto en castellano

With this attitude like “I was just passing by” is how we met the indiest “mañico” (demonym of people from Zaragoza, city in Spain). Borja Laudo, or what’s the same, Bigott, is so cool that you could die. Because in its shows, he dances as if no one was looking. Because he makes easy songs that make happier your day and because he has proved that low voices and country songs just fit perfectly.
We don’t know exactly how or why, but here we have him answering our hysterical interview. And let the Pilarica (Zaragoza’s Virgin) come down, because Bigott is going up!

Bigott, Bigott, Bigott… How a “mañico” like you in a fuss like this? How did you get here? You began auto-publishing your two first LP’S… 7 years later you crown indie Olympus in Spain. Did you expect this result?
I began auto-publishing and now I auto-publish “Blue jeans”. But I’m doing fine, I can play out there and that’s what I want to do know. I never expect anything, that’s why I have fun with whatever comes.

You must have heard a thousand times that you are considered a “peculiar” artist. And probably you don’t consider it like this but… This beard, this way of singing, the dances on stage, this unmistakable musical style… Which percentage is natural and which part is caused?
I don´t know why I like this question so much, maybe I don’t read it properly.

When you began your career, did you receive many slams on your face from record labels, managers and rooms where to make shows, because of your steps out of line?
At the beginning no one wanted to pay for my records, now, nevertheless, they still don’t want to.

And know that you fill up stages, either on festivals or alone, what you and your band do the previous hours to a show? Any ritual or infatuation?
As usual the previous hours we use to go to the city where we play. We don’t have special rituals and we don’t do anything weird. We must be boring.

“GotoFuck” is the documentary about your tour over Canada and USA. What can you advance us? Any anecdote or surreal situation from the tour that you would like to share with us?
I don’t remember anything concrete, I know I had a good time and that we slept sort of not much; I also feel like I want to see it.

You publish almost an album per year. Which is the secret of this big capacity of composing?
I play every day and even getting a little every day, a year has a lot of days.

At whom would you throw a Hello Kitty knickers or underpants and why?
Now I go mental for Foxygen.

Is there any band that we maybe don’t know and that you would like to recommend us for being very very cool?
Well I guess you may know Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, which is one of the last things that I’ve liked and also Jeremy Jay.

Which drink do you recommend while listening to your last album, Blue Jeans?
It is not so bad; you can listen to it without drinking.

We finish the interview with your last video “Find a romance”, from your new LP Blue Jeans. During the video we can see a girl walking over the city, interacting with people… What does the video wants to transmit?
It’s a video, just like that, without ambition.

Bigott: El Nota indie

view the text in English

¿Cómo has llegado hasta aquí?
Empecé autoeditando y ahora auto edito "Blue Jeans”.

Ahora me flipan Foxygen.

Dorian: Gloomy Electro Pop

A big ascendant progression, like made with compass, is the clearest feature of Dorian. A band that in no more than 10 years has published 4 LP’s, created generational odes (todo lo que siento por ti… sólo podría decirlo así…), has triumphed at home and outside, and has also helped to delete this kind of seedy layer that, for a lot of people, used to have a big part of Spanish electro pop. Marc, Belly, Bart and Jordi began their course at the beginning of the XXI century between 10.000 metropolises. Hiding in subterranean cities from terribly sand storms, without knowing if the future could be theirs but imagining it would be of nobody and today, they leak again into our CD player reaching the speed of emptiness (play on word with Dorian LP titles). We were very excited with their new album. About interviewing them, this is completely cool (we are so excited that we are taking painkillers). They are Dorian. And this is their hysterical interview.

Your songs have, almost all of them, a sordid item on the lyrics, even tortured. The main characters always suffer, or live or have lived debauchery ages. Worthy of an Almodovar film. Is this that you like bad life? Which is your source of inspiration?
We have always been a bit “stormy”, why deny it. That’s why we are such fanatics of sinister 80’s music like The Sound, The Chameleons, Siouxsie and the Banshees or Bauhaus. We also have lived debauchery ages at night. As you see, there is a lot of darkness in our lives! Out of jokes, our source of inspiration is based on a 90% in autobiographic experiences. We like to tell the things that happen to us and to the ones around us.

You have in Mexico such the same or even more success than in Spain. You are genuine idols there. Are there important differences between the Spanish and Mexican audience? Can we avoid the idea that in Spain we have the best fans of the world because of our spontaneity and warmth in live shows?
In fact Spanish and Mexican audiences are very similar but… yes, we could dare tos ay that Mexican audience can be even more enthusiastic and expressive than the Spanish one. The time we saw the audience more dedicated, wild and entranced was in a live show of the Mexican Café Tacuba. That day, we can assure that the floor was shaking and the enclosure didn’t fall down miraculously.

Marc y Belly have, at the same time than Dorian, the band After After Hours with HQ in UK, city where they use to live. They compose their own songs with a semi psychedelic groove, and also versions. Tell us guys, how came the need of create this new band? Did you have the nagging feeling of making something in English?
We wanted to have an experience with musicians from a different origin than ours in order to try out different sonorities and rhythms than the ones we are used to, I mean, go out from our comfort zone and grow up as musicians. The experience could not be cooler.  After After Hours was formed by two Catalans, a vocalist with Jamaican lineage, a Sudafrican bassist girl and a drummer from Leeds. We had such a great time and we have on our minds to continue cooperating, although in long-distance.

Required question: ¿At whom will you throw a Hello Kitty knickers or underpants and why?
Tom Jones, at whom we had the chance to see in Glastonbury and we felt very impressed. What a voice, what a works, what a band and what a way to switch on the female present there. That day a lot of knickers felt off, we testify it.

Imagine yourselves as a band in 10 years. Which will be Dorian’s portrait then?
We wish that in the portrait figure the same characters and haven’t lost the enthusiasm of making music together (and the hair).

Could you define with a word each one of the 4 Dorian LP’s?
10.000 metrópolis: enigmatic.
El futuro no es de nadie: abrave.
La ciudad subterránea: vitalist.
La velocidad del vacío: brilliant.

Yet since we first listened to the single advance of your new LP “Los amigos que perdí”, we thought it could be the answer to Las malas semillas”: In “las malas semillas” is telled the history about a girl that is always going out at night, living on the edge… and in “los amigos que perdí” it seems that the same girl explains what she lived in this age of chaos, without regrets. Is that way? Did you think in this song as a response to “Las malas semillas”?
This is not an aware response to “Las malas semillas”, but both could be defined as antinostalgia songs. Both tracks talk about characters which are unsatisfied with their present, people that start an encouraging searching road that sometimes plays them dirty tricks. Even like that, they don’t decline and continue straight on. At the end, they are songs that hide vitalist ways of life.

You put the standard very high with your last LP “La ciudad subterranean”. A lot of hits and an emotive intensity we are not used to see in Spanish lyrics. What can surprise us in “La velocidad del vacío”? Sell it to us, come on.
It has some of the best compositions that Marc has ever done (“El temblor”, “El sueño eterno”), and shows a Dorian side that many people unknowns. The songs are not as attractive as in “La ciudad subterránea” but, believe us, they are much more complex and they win as long as you hear them…

After the launch of an album, it’s time to go city to city showing the album on live shows (we’ll see you in the Low Cost Festival – Benidorm, Spain), so be aware to the launch of Hello Kitty knickers to your faces). Do you prepare live shows in any special way? Is there any new in the new show that you could advance us?
We have a secret weapon that we are going to perform for the first time in the Sonar inaugural night. And that’s all that we can read…

As things are going on in Spain, we all want to go somewhere else (a cualquier otra parte). Where will you go if you could choose?
We feel like at home anywhere. As a lot of musicians, we are very rootless people.
